Tattoo Process and FAQs
What is your tattoo process like?
My tattoo schedule is booking about 2-3 months in advance. If you have a spark of a tattoo idea, please email me or submit an inquiry form. Include your idea, part of the body you’d like to get tattooed, budget you are working within, and attach any photo references that may be helpful.
After I have received your request, I will reply with accepting your request or if I feel your project won’t be a good fit for my art style, I will refer you to another artist at my studio. If there are any other questions and concerns about your project, I’ll reply with those also.
When I feel like the concept is well communicated and clear, I will give you an approximate price quote and a booking link with directions. You will need to submit a deposit for the booking to be complete. This deposit goes towards your tattoo cost.
If any ideas need to be changed, you’re welcome to email me until 3 days prior. Any request after that may effect your session being rescheduled.
Since I work mostly in freehand, you will not see a preliminary drawing. We will allot time to chat and draw on your body before the tattoo session (don’t worry, I won’t start tattooing until you are sure about the composition). Every now and then, there are projects I will make a partial stencil for, you will see this at the tattoo appointment.
What is freehand?
Freehand tattooing process is when I draw directly on your body with a skin pen to compose the tattoo design. This process allows me to see how the art will move with your body and plan things out along your anatomical lines to create a good flow.
What is your pricing like?
My tattoos are charged by project rather than hourly. I started doing this a few years back because I work very fast. I will give you an approximate quote with a range. The total price will be based on how dense/ complex the overall design is. I find that this way you know what you are agreeing to rather than hourly rate being dragged on. Here is a very rough guideline:
5”x7” hand size - $300- $500
6”×9” - $600 - $900
8”x11” - $1000 - $1500
forearm wrap - $800 - $1300
half sleeve (not wrapped all the way) - $1000 - $1500
full sleeve (wrapped) - $3000+
Is it going to hurt?
A tattoo procedure involves opening your skin so yes. But instead of thinking of it like a bee sting or excruciating experience, thinking of it as someone (or your cat) scratching you. When it comes down to it, it depends on the person's pain tolerance, which part of your body you are getting tattooed, how long will you be sitting for, and also how well you've prepared yourself in coming to the tattoo session. Usually the first 10-15 minutes is the worst because your body is getting used to a new sensation. Then your endorphins will kick in and you will get more relaxed and used to it.
Can I bring moral support?
You are welcome to bring a friend or family member but please don't bring an entourage. If you do, make sure you bring a good moral support person, not someone that will make you anxious or will question your experience.
As much as babies are really cute, please do not bring your baby unless you have someone taking care of them the whole time. A tattoo studio is not a place for a baby to crawl around, picking things up and putting it in their mouth. We work on multiple bodies and are dealing with blood /biohazard products each day. We can not guarantee the safety of your baby.
No pets are allowed. This is to keep the studio up to sanitation standards. Since we are breaking open your skin we can not have animal fur, dander, saliva, etc. drifting around in the space.
